Default HD Native (new install) DAE error 9514 preventing Pro Tools load

I've just upgraded my system from Pro Tools 10.3.4 + CPTK (002 Rack) to an HD Native (10.3.5) + Omni I/O system. I fully removed the existing Pro Tools install, powered down, installed the native card and followed the usual procedure for installing the software (UAC/anti-virus/wifi all off, of course...drivers first, restart, software, restart). First load of Pro Tools prompted to update the firmware on the HD Native card...done, and restart. Then ran DigiTest to update the firmware of the Omni (it's now on revision 2.10). Restarted the system, attempted to load Pro Tools, and got this error:

"Could not allocate memory for the disk cache. Try lowering your disk buffer (DAE Buffer), disk cache, or voice engine count. If you got this error on launch, delete your prefs and try again. (-9514)"

Followed the suggestion and restarted. Same error. Repeated that and held "N" while loading Pro Tools to bring up the Playback Engine dialog, adjusted everything to their lowest settings, and still got the same error. Did a full uninstall of Pro Tools/drivers/etc., restarted, and repeated the install process. Error persisted. Just for the hell of it, I even tried installing 10.3.4 and 10.3.1...all to no avail. HD Native Card and Omni I/O pass all processes in DigiTest. So, I know the HD card is properly seated. The software just won't load up.

Anyone have any other ideas I can try before going through a full system clean install? Here's a Sandra report. I realize I'm running a bunch of "unsupported" hardware components, but it's a custom system that I built, almost 3 years ago now, that has given me absolutely zero issues with the previous Pro Tools installs. Then again, this is the first time I've installed an HD card of any flavor in it.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Default Re: HD Native (new install) DAE error 9514 preventing Pro Tools load

As an update to my ongoing attempts to trouble shoot, I've tried moving the HD Native card to the 1st PCIE x4 slot, and tried loading Pro Tools without the card installed (using a Sound Devices USBPre 2 as the ASIO device)...still get the same error.

I would recommend a clean install period. It's a terrible amount of time, but nothing is better. Preferable to take some images along the way with something like acronis or drive images w Casper. That way you can always revert to a clean state.

Pull your wireless stick out.
Turn aero (desktop composition) off?
Use my Trasher app (use appropriate version) to delete your Dae, PT prefs, and databases.

That would be about all I could recommend.

+1 to a clean Windows install.

I usually do the install, all windows updates then do a backup image. Then install PT/card/drivers etc and do another image.

Of course don't forget to backup anything you want saved before wiping the OS drive.

Problem solved. When you activate the software through the website, it gives you a step-by-step set of instructions for installing. One of the things you're told to do is download the latest hardware drivers (of which there is a separate file available). What I didn't know, or see any instructions about, is that you're not supposed to install them from that additional download if you're using the hardware with Pro Tools. I had done that, and that's what was causing my issue. Apparently, that file is only to be used if you want to use the hardware and aren't installing Pro Tools.
