No Firewire driver in Ventura and beyond. 003 sounds horrid anyways. Pre amps are mostly useless. Most plug in developers give you both RTAS and AAX.
And PT 10? good luck with using that on an AS Mac! Just buy a MacPro 5.1 and install Mountain Lion. I have a copy. Max out the 5.1 with RAM and you can update the CPUs if they aren't already the fastest for that model. Cheap.

In general Firewire Audio interfaces on Ventura should work, or can be made to work. There are many many posts on the Interwebs explaining how to do this. It should not be an issue.

Getting Pro Tools 10 to run on Ventura, or not having a 003 driver for Apple Silicon OTOH are entirely different matters.

That's exactly what my daily driver was till a few years ago. Mac Pro 5.1, dual processor, venerable Digi002r, Pro Tools 10HD on Mac OS 10.9 (Mavericks).

I'm still on the Mac Pro, but moved to Mojave, Pro Tools Ultimate 2023.12 and a basic UMC1820 for audio monitoring... I'm missing a few RTAS plug-ins (like Cosmonaut Voice) but everything is pretty solid.

I am still using a cMP 5.1 at my personal studio. Did the Mojave update and used DosDude Catalina patcher. Lynx AES card and a Crane Song HEDD for I/O. I am using PT 2023.6. No issues with 2023.12? I may try to update the 5.1.

For me, 2023.9 and 2023.12 are doing ok.
You have to move out of the application package the Sketch part and you are all sorted.

Only issue encountered so far in 2023.12, internal renderer is working fine but Pro Tools will hang and crash as soon as you click on the Windows menu: Dolby Atmos Renderer.
... not much of a problem for me, as I'm still on Dolby Atmos Production Suite...

Any insights on this would be appreciated. Thanks!
I'm still running my 5,1 Pro with my digi 003 rack & Console.

New Mac's are stupid expensive, and clearly my supped up Mac Pro does everything I need it to do, even when I was on Mojave.

You can run PT 2023.12 with any version of MacOS up to Monterey with this video install. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0jq8CXJRBU

The only problem I'm having is I have to force quit PT. But others seem not to have my particular problem, and perhaps due to they have different interfaces.

I"m curious enough to see if Sonoma will work with my Digi 003 ?

Will install and see if it works.

*Also a side note*. if you use Martin Lo's script you can boot into any older OS combo's, via boot picker, let's say Mt. Lion with PT10 if you needed to.

Yeah? NOT- the pre-amps in the 003 are very good. We've released 4 albums with more than 1,000,000 copies downloaded/sold for 5 bands using these. There's a lot more than pre-amps that go into making a solid album.

Great to hear that.

Noob here, but I noticed from my Digi 003 console going to a Digi 003 rack with the BLA Signature Mod I can clearly tell the difference in the low end definition.

Indeed there's a heck of a lot more than the pres. I'm a sponge and suck up as much knowledge you greats are spill on us.

Greatly appreciate it.

Yes there is a lot more than pre amps that go into making any music. I am certain the 003 Pre amps weren't the selling point of the music either!!

Good for you getting the most out of the 003!

I have owned 001, 002, 003 and still use my C/24. Oddly 001 had the best pre amps of the lot IME. That might have been because digidesign didn't completely cheap out on the pre amp then. Not ideal but they weren't noisy and were sonically in the ballpark with each other. I don't use the C/24 pres as they are noisy, timbre doesn't match between them and neither does the gain. I do enjoy the C/24 as a control surface. I skip the monitor section with a Crookwood too.
