I'm planning a new Win 10 computer:
  • Intel Core i9-10920X @ 3,50GHz
  • Gigabyte X299X AORUS MASTER, Socket-2066 (4xPCIe-x16)
  • Samsung 970 PRO 1TB M.2 SSD

I'm using HD Native PCIe card and Avid Omni.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Great to hear. I have been on Mac for some years as well and a couple years ago made the move to Windows after my Hackintosh experience. Part of it was driven by my use of Samplitude for mastering duties which is Windows only.

Overall I think you will find Windows 10 pretty sweet to get around.

About computers, I have been running a HP Z4 workstation for the last 6 months with HDX. This has been by far the most reliable and powerful Protools user experience I've had. I opted for this computer as it is what Avid uses when they do turnkey systems for their corporate clients. Very happy I went this route.

If you look in PT Ultimate approved systems you will see the machine. I added a TH3 card to it so I could upgrade my Hilo to TH3 as well. Very nice.

Stay healthy, happy and safe during these times.

Debating between 7940X and the 9940X. I see Chris Dee is getting good results with the 7940X, anyone on the 9940X?

Wondering what video card I should get to replace it. Not trying to do a major overhaul rebuild, just a component swap.

Current rig:
ASUS X99-A
i7-6800
DDR Quad 32GB
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 750 Ti

Do I just buy a replacement 750, or is there any value in getting a 950 or something? Thanks
Just stay Nvidia, you will be fine. 1030, 1050,1650, etc.

It looks like the CPU delivery is delayed due to covid19.
I hope I’m up and running 20. May
