Default 192 adjusting input and output gain

Hi

how do you adjust the input and out put gain on a 192 / 96. For example if i mic up a drum kit and go straight in to the 192 and its hitting the red and clipping how do i turn the gain down there doesnt seem to be any gain knobs on the machine (like the 003+) do i need a separate preamp before i go into the 192 or 96

hope someone can help

Thanks

PS these forums are great im getting so much info better than ringing up a shop and speaking to someone who doesnt even know pro tools

those are line level inputs, which is why there are no knobs.

yes, you need a preamp or 16.

Yes, like barstool said, there's no mic preamps on a 192 or 96 i/o.

You can adjust the i/o levels in the software, but only either -10 or +4.
