Default recording from ADAT

I am trying to record from an ADAT into 8 channels of my Firewire 1814, but many of the channels are not coming through into Pro Tools. I have the inputs set for each audio track to 1-8. What am I missing?

I dont have an FW1814 so this may not apply but on a 001/002/003 etc you would be selecting ADAT 1-8 as your channel inputs

I'm not sure if the 1814 control panel is the same as the 2626 but did you make sure that you have the 1st 8 routed as the 8 analog ins. If you had spdif first then you'd only get 3-8 into pro tools.

Are you bringing the 8 channels in via ADAT optical cable or as analog audio?

Call me silly but why not bring it in as ADAT and avoid any conversion and clocking issues?

You can use the optical input as ADAT and not SPDIF to digitally capture your 8-tracks. I don't have my 1814 in front of me, but there is a setting to make sure the 1814 is 'locked' to the optical input. If you don't select that, it won't record.

It actually will record just not cleanly. I've made that mistake and it's very static and noisy. Locking to the ADAT works best although I make mine as the slave and my 2626 as the master
