Default AMD or Intel Processor

Question?
I'm looking for a second computer to work with the MP9 I just bought and I heard that AMD Processors are good but don't work so well for music. I want to know if that's true, because I am in a budget and need a computer. This is the processor that the computer has (AMD ATHLON II X2 B24). Thanks for the help!!!!

Hi,

AMD processors are not officially supported, but there are people using them successfully with Pro Tools. I would personally save for an Intel-based machine.

Intel, or you're pretty much on your own for build help. It's worth the extra couple bucks.

I had a Phenom system for a while (from Rain, no less, a company that supposedly makes audio computers), and I swear it never quite ran Pro Tools as well as I wanted it to, despite my endless tweaking. YMMV as always.

I have been an AMD user since the "Pentium" days & have never had a problem running audio. I have PT MP9 heading my way as I type, so after I load it and run it for awhile & post back.

If it don't run on this system that has run Cubase, Samplitude, Mixcraft, KAE, and Reaper with no problems, then it is Pro Tools problem, NOT AMD's!
