The pref isn't there because that's how templates already work (unless you've specifically altered your allocation).

How SHOULD disc allocation be set, in order for the it to have the desired functionality?

Ok, I am having this issue also. New session created from template retains disk allocation from session that template was derived from. Same with importing session data.
Custom Allocationff
Create Subfoldersn
Round Robinff

PT2021.6.0 Ultimate HDX
