Constant PTLE Crashes with 5.3

Hello there

I recently bought a new computer system and attempted to put my PT 5.3 on it......nothing but crashes ever since.New system is Windows Xp pro,AMD athlon dual core 3800.Asus A8N-VM motherboard.
There is nothing else on the computer other than the operating system and PTLE 5.3....I've been working on this for four straight days and nights now and would greatly appreciate any advice or info anybody might have.

What kind of crashes?
Are you getting error messages?
What exactly is (or is not) happening?
What service pack of XP are you running?
