Default Pro Tools crashes when I close the programme

Pro Tools crashes when I close the programme using the windows right hand corner X.

I save my session and then close the programme and the following error appears:

Could not complete the Exit command because Access violation occoured, unable to read location: 0x00000000 at address: 0x00000000 in module: ProToolsLE.exe

I then have to use task manager to close the programme. When I re open PT and the last session, the session is corrupt and cannot be opened so I have to use a backup file.

I am losing so much work with this can anyone help?

Best,
Andy
