cannot make automation inside a plug-in

i cannot make anutomation side a plug-in in PTLE 6.4
i am using win XP pro, digi 002, and i was trying to make some automation with wave plug-ins,
for e.g. like the output level change or ratio change.
i have try all the methods suggest in the menu, and try the way the TDM shortcut keys,
but no success, so would anyone please give me some suggestions?
because this is important to make change for that, for e.g. the output level change in the first plug-in to the second plug-in.

open the plugin and click on the button labeled "auto". Then select the parameters you want to automate and "add" them to the right hand column. Now they will respond to automation.
