Command 8 monitor source from 192 i/o
Have stepped from a Digi002 Rack to HD2 with 192 i/o. The 002 has 2 dedicated monitor outputs - as well as the 2 main outs (output 1&2) that fed the monitors section of my Command 8 nicely.
But there are no such marked outputs on the 192 i/o (which sports DB25 connectors, rather than 1/4" TRS). How do I feed the monitor inputs of my Command 8 from a 192 i/o? Do I just use output channels 1 & 2 from the 192 i/o as stereo left & right? Does the 192 i/o route all audio thru output channels 1-2 by default... or does that need to be set in the ProTools software? |

Yes you use outputs 1 & 2 you'll need a 25 way Dsub cable to 1/4in TRS, aka a Digisnake All output routing is done in the i/o setup page and the hardware setup page. but the default is for all channels to go to 1 & 2 Chris

Re: Command 8 monitor source from 192 i/o
You've moved from the Digi002 to a VERY high-end system with the 192I/O and HD2, congrats! Understand that sonically you are in a whole new world because of the raw power within the HD processing with superior sonic performance of the internal summing as well as the converter----so do yourself a favor and look at at least a Presonus Central Station or (preferably) a Dangerous Music Monitor Station or DBox. Why? THE MONITOR BUS IS ONE OF THE TOP AREAS WHERE MANY KILL THEIR STUDIO SIGNAL PATH! IMHO the studio monitors are the most important part of any studio, so don't compromise to that point. Just because an item can route the audio signal path and control that level doesn't mean you should use it. Yes the Command8 has this capability and it's a wortwhile feature, but you're in a new world and probably don't realize this massive difference. I have a Control24, I don't even use the monitor bus on that....but rather a Central Station (moving to a Dangerous soon). It DOES make a difference, you'll be quite surprised actually. The Central Station is all of $500.....so it's pennies for an HD system.
