Default Mac mini cant start up with iLok inserted

My Mac mini is 2.3G Intel i7, OS is 10.9.1
I have Protools installed so I have to insert one iLok2 to my mini.
Every time I press the power it flash one time and shut down.
When I unplug the iLok, The mini can start up normally.
Are there some conflicts between Mini and ilok??

Not sure why this is happening. I can only imagine that the mini thinks the iLok is a bootable drive? Sorry I don't know Macs well enough to steer you on that possibility. You could cheat a bit and connect a USB extendo(AKA "dongle buddy) and connect the ilok after you boot(but there must be a solution as you are the first I have seen to report this issue. I assume you have PT11?

I have PT11 and 10 on the same mini.
I plug the Ilok directly to the mini. Can Ilok be plunged through a splitter too?

You mean hub? Yes it can as that's how I do it on my system.

I have a mid 2010 Mini that I use as my Photoshop and web machine and I use that to sync my iLok2 as I don't like to have my daw go online. The Mini is running OSX 10.6.8 and starts up just fine with the iLok2 plugged in directly. I'm not a fan of hot-plugging devices.

It is so strange with my Mini. I don't have other software using ILok, only PT does.

Hi,

I help set up an HDX system for a friend on an i7 Mini.
It drove us nuts with the iLok.
The solution was a USB 2 hub as the above poster said.
The strange thing was.....
We originally tried a USB 3 hub, and it did not work either.
On top of that, I have an i7 Mini with an iLok, and it works just fine.
