Default EA - Favour Kick + Snare when Quantize?

Hi all,

this is fairly simple on Logic but can't figure out how to do this on PT12.

Need to EA multitrack drums but want the quantizing to only 'focus' on the kick and snare when quantizing and let the others follow. I have a room mic that it keeps quantizing to which is throwing the kick and snare out.

Many thanks

I think if it were me and it's easy to accomplish in Logic, I'd export the audio to Logic and do it there. Best tool for the job and all that.

Thanks for your reply Steve.

To be honest I find drum editing a dream in PT compared to logic. Logic works amazing for me 90% of the time but I always get some random unexplainable annoyance that will pop up and take me 30minutes to fix.

Maybe that feature isn't on PT but would be a welcome addition.

Just a side note, if you only EA the kick and Snare, it will push the rest of the drums out of phase. Assuming you spent time to make sure they were in phase to begin with. Editing drums in PT is best done with beat detective. Check out the Ben Lindell video about that, it's the best one out there.

EA is really not the best tool for timing drums. Beat Detective is the tool of choice for most of us.

You can temporarily remove all Anaysis markers on all but Kick and Snare and then quantize the tracks together as a group.

To remove the Analysis markers, go to Clip-Elastic Properties and then turn the sensitivity down to 0%.

After you have quantized the tracks, return some of the analysis markers back into the tracks by turning the sensitivity back up on those tracks to your desired amount.
