This is only my opinion, but I particularly disliked the M-Audio's when I heard them. Way too hi fi sounding for me, and of all the monitors I listened to, they sounded most different to everything else. I bought Mackie HR824's at the time.

For the money I would say Behringer Truths.

I've heard really good things about the Behringer Truths, I use Tannoy Reveals and get good results.. there is a learning curve because of the lack of low frequency response... But wasn't that what the NS10's were all about?

make that 4.

it took me a little tweaking of the room, readjusting the setup, and a nice absorber right in front of me, but i have been really happy with the mixes i have been getting lately.

its ALL about how you have them set up though, and i think this goes with any monitor you get. i had the tr8s set up differently for a few months, and i wasnt really liking them at all. mixes came out tinny and weak.

i moved everything around completely and its amazing how much different they sound now!

I suggest you check out the Tapco S5's.

I have a pair and they are superb, so much better than my Genelec 1029a's. The genelec's seem very harsh and fatiguing after a long session. The Tapco's have a good overall sound - clean, revealing and informative.

They are made and designed by Mackie (in china under the tapco name) but the quality is excellent.

give them a try - they have been getting some excellent reviews.

I'm a fan of Resolv 65a monitors from Samson.
