Hi

Since I have been useing pro tools free my computer seems to crash frequently.I have a gateway computer 8oohz, 128 ram, and 20 gbite hard disk.

I chane the different things like buffer size but this does not make much difference.

What I have just found out in the manual that you are supposed to set the DMA option on the drive before you install the programme, I have not done this because I get a message saying that it could effect the other programmes on my hard drive.

Regards

Michael blount

I think it is hilarious you keep putting your name in the thread topic title. Keep it up- it's refreshing.

Go ahead and enable DMA for your HDD. It is essential, as PT Free is not the Greyhound of ProTools products. Also what soundcard are you running?

Good to hear from you!
I haven't heard of many problems with the MAudio cards and PTF.
If you have problems after getting your DMA together, then please re-post with something like "M-Audio conflicts- how to fix" in the subject line. Probably get more customers.

BTW do all the tweaks Digi suggests like disable auto-insert notification for your CD and DVD drives, set system sounds to NO SOUNDS in Control Panel> Sound and Multimedia>...
Might pull any network cards if it continues. Those can sometimes be a source.
