Hi
Since I have been useing pro tools free my computer seems to crash frequently.I have a gateway computer 8oohz, 128 ram, and 20 gbite hard disk. I chane the different things like buffer size but this does not make much difference. What I have just found out in the manual that you are supposed to set the DMA option on the drive before you install the programme, I have not done this because I get a message saying that it could effect the other programmes on my hard drive. Regards Michael blount

I think it is hilarious you keep putting your name in the thread topic title. Keep it up- it's refreshing.
Go ahead and enable DMA for your HDD. It is essential, as PT Free is not the Greyhound of ProTools products. Also what soundcard are you running? |

Re: michaelblount
Good to hear from you!
I haven't heard of many problems with the MAudio cards and PTF. If you have problems after getting your DMA together, then please re-post with something like "M-Audio conflicts- how to fix" in the subject line. Probably get more customers. BTW do all the tweaks Digi suggests like disable auto-insert notification for your CD and DVD drives, set system sounds to NO SOUNDS in Control Panel> Sound and Multimedia>... Might pull any network cards if it continues. Those can sometimes be a source. |
