"Pro Tools has quit unexpectedly" every time I try to open a session
 Been working all day tracking drums. Had a break and now this is happening for the last 4 hours. Can’t make it work. Mac OS 10.13.6Been stable forever and now this. I’ve tried restart, trashing preference etc..please help!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

There's so little information here - it'll be pretty difficult to help until you provide more: Like *when* does it crash? I know OS 10.13.6, but is it PT2019.5? Hardware? Interfaces?
In the meantime, the usual troubleshooting steps apply: Try booting PT with 'n' key held down to boot to the playback engine dialog and see if that looks correct. Trash prefs (use the Pete Gates utility) and see where you''re at.

Pete gates? It crashes every time I try to open a session no matter what..tried pressing n and tried internal and ext sound card. I’ve got UAD Apollo Thunderbolt cards. Worked all day and suddenly stop. Tried restart, trashing PT preference reinstall PT and drivers. No luck

Did you try the “n” thing as suggested earlier? Selecting your sound card.

Remove all plugins
Reinstall protools from download 2. Startup from backup and check performance 3. Reseat hardware Post your help us help you specs. Good luck. Take a breath. T

Could also be a hard drive issue.
