How come the first Digi 192 (8channels) only shows up in Logic pro x ???
i am still using a protools HD system but sometimes i have to work in logic or cubase but i can't get all 24 ins/outs in third party software...

Have you loaded the HD Driver?
I have 2 192's and 1 HD I/O that show up as 48 I/O in Logic, Cubase, Ableton, Studio One, etc.

you are limited to 8 channels
Logic (or anything else) has not been able to access more than 8 channels of I/O for many years

Using a Native Card with the I/O in my sig and I see 48 channels whether I am in Cubase or Logic or any other DAW. Maybe the limitation is with TDM hardware but I can guarantee that you are not limited to 8 channels of I/O in logic with a Native Card.

The exact IO limits vary between HD/TDM or more modern HD/native or HDX systems. I am assuming you (the OP) are using old HD/TDM systems and so seeing that lower 8 IO limit.

yes, I'm using pt hd 10, 3 digi 192's (with 2 ua 2192's connected) i really need all the outputs when mixing in logic/cubase(I've been getting lots-o-work in those formats)...can anyone give me some options...i was contemplating whether or not to ditch my hd cards and digi 192's and pick up an antelope 32 which i believe would work for all, but its usb/thunderbolt, no pcie card...would i be degrading, sonically, latency, bla bla...??? OR, can i just transfer sessions from logic x into protools ???!@#$ thanks for the help...

HD TDM cards only support 8 channels of I/O via ASIO/Coreaudio. There is no way around it unfortunately. You either need to upgrade to a newer non-TDM card (HD Native, HDX) or ditch the system entirely.

I am running an SSL Madixtreme & Alphalink SX for 24 channels of analogue I/O plus 8 channels of digital. Low latency, and quite cheap on the used market if you keep an eye out. You can often grab one for less than $1500. I would love one of the new Antelope Orion's though... I have no experience with them, but they look great feature-wise. Obviously TDM plugins are a no-go with these systems, but it does forward you the option of upgrading to PT11/12 which runs so much more effeciently.

Export all the audio tracks from Logic to Protools and forget Logic.
