Default Contour Design Shuttle Pro2 very very COOL!

Has anybody else been using this device? http://contourdesign.com/shuttlepro/ Just got one yesterday and it is great. No more stretching the pinky finger and hand to do crazy shortcuts promoting carpal tunnel syndrome. They have a few other great looking devices that I haven't tried yet. I saw this thing once a few years ago and I can't believe I overlooked it. Does anybody have favorite shortcuts programmed? Also, does it have any glitches I should look out for? Between this thing and a good rollerball I may not need to touch the keyboard again! And no, I do not work for this company or endorse this product in any way other than being a satisfied customer.

I'm considering one of these. What I really need is some input device that will let me program character strings into the buttons. I edit tons of dialog for interactive projects, naming regions as I go. Being able to have a few character strings programmed into buttons would sure save a lot of typing. I used to have a Kensington Turbo track ball that would allow this. Do they still?

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

The shuttle pro will do macros. So yes, you can do string entries. And the new Kensington rollerball has programmable macros too. Only downside is it is OSX. But it is an optical device and much smoother than the older Kensington Pro. ( Those metal rollers would wear out in a year or so and the cursor would would start to skip and stutter.)
P.S. Since were talking about ergonomics. I really love my new Steelcase Leap chair. http://www.steelcase.com/ It doesn't look quite as cool as the Aeron, But it is much more comfortable! Trust me, I know. I've worked sitting on both for a very long time. The Aeron starts out nice. But the steelcase ends up nicer after a 12-14 hour day at the console. It's all in the legs and lower back.

Interesting. I took a look at this a while back, but never used it. How responsive is the jog/shuttle control? If it's worthy, I'd be in the market for several of them.

Not a lot of resolution (# of detents) on the wheel. The shuttle bogs down on my 500mhz iBook. However, its been fantastic using the shuttle pro2. Get that one. You WILL use up all the buttons on it. --Eric

I have had the Contour Shuttle Pro (1) for about two years now. I love it! I have not had any glitches with it at all. I use all of the avail. buttons for my most-used macros in Pro Tools-it's useful for almost every program I use on my Mac as well!-I'm not sponsored or employed by them either-just spoiled by it!

is this thing a mouse as well or is it an extra keyboard? isn´t it annoying to let go of the mouse to reach to the nostromo thingy?

have you tried it?

frank.
