Re: Universal Audio releases Apollo X TB3 interfaces.
Thanks. The $64 dollar question I can't find is how the new x6 compares to my 3 year old Apollo Twin Duo. (tonal and stability issues)

Re: Universal Audio releases Apollo X TB3 interfaces.
Yes but when will you folks have my 8x8x8 version of the x16?

Re: Universal Audio releases Apollo X TB3 interfaces.
Sure, I can drop by Santa Cruz, who do I need to use the hacksaw on?
It would be a whole lot easier if you folks just did it without that. |

I have to be brutally honest. The last few pages of that thread mention something that drives me nuts. The high-mids do seem very strong with my 3 year old Twin. Is this something that has been improved? This was taken out of context, but describes my ears to no end. "......my ears have always been really sensitive to upper frequency harmonics.. So digital distortion, harsh transients or mic zing makes my ears go crazy although I struggle with bass more than others. " This has been my biggest mixing struggle to date. Is that range supposed to be improved? |

Re: Universal Audio releases Apollo X TB3 interfaces.
Considering how personal and subjective all this is (what you're sensitive to another may LOVE) I can't in good conscience tell you if you'll think it's better, but I can tell you that the specs and all listening tests I've been a part of and that we've done as a company bear it out.

Re: Universal Audio releases Apollo X TB3 interfaces.
My list of candidates is getting very small now. RME and a Motu 828es (low cost option allowing me to get a nice pair of mics.) I agree with the guy who reviewed it in SOS, that while not having much on the input is preferred, having something on there for an initial gentle shove can be nice. In my case, it's lowering the 3.2kHz range some.
I curse the ears getting better thing. It has changed how I listen to everything. Quote:
So, x6 and x8 are separated by 2 mic pres and two more speakers for 7.1 vs 5.1 surround. Specs are otherwise looking identical. Am I missing something? |

No, those are the only differences.

Re: Universal Audio releases Apollo X TB3 interfaces.
Just got back from a chat with my favorite pro audio salesperson type. x6 should be here Tuesday. My TB card just got here this afternoon. That gives me 4 days to find a cable.
Thanks for all the tips and info-share, gents. |
