Replacing Headphone output jack on Mbox?
Hey everybody -
So, I have an Mbox 1, and recently the headphone output jack just up & broke. Essentially, the metal tube into which the headphone plugs broke in half, and because of where brake is there's no obvious way for me to repair it myself. Does anybody know where I could find a replacement part for this jack? Everything else on the Mbox is working fine! Are the simple headphone jacks you find at Radio Shack okay replacements? I know they're not the same, but are they sufficient? Or is my only option to either get a new one (which I'm loathe to do for just the headphone jack being busted) or to send it to Digidesign direct to fix? Any suggestions anyone could offer would be hugely appreciated! Thanks. -david |

Re: Replacing Headphone output jack on Mbox?
ANy DIGI-approved repair shop should be able to replace it but it will likely cost $50-80 depending on labor rate. Where are you located? In Nashville, Tour Supply is a place that could do it. If you are bold(and skilled) enough to tackle it yourself, you need to open the box and see what kind of jack it is so you get the right replacement. I doubt Radio Shack parts will fit(and they usually suck anyway). You may also find that you can repair what is there with some hot glue. You could also opt for a monitor switcher like the Samson C-Control or Presonus Central Station which will have their own headphone jacks.

Use the front jack! (or the rear jack if the front one's the one that broke)

I think there's only one headphone jack on the Mbox - although there are stereo outputs in back.. is that what you mean?
