Default 2.1 Client Software Now Available

An update to the DigiDelivery client software is now available for free download from http://www.digidesign.com/digidelivery/clients. Though not required, all Windows and Mac OS X DigiDelivery users will want to update to this new version of the client. Anyone launching the older clients will receive a prompt to update.

No change to the server software is required, and deliveries may still be exchanged with users of earlier clients. Saved login information will not be lost, and there is no need to delete earlier versions of the client. Simply run the new installer.

New features include:
- Improved error correction that will increase reliability for all users
- XP users can now enter email groups from their Outlook address books
- XP users can type a recipient's name when in the Accounts list and the list will scroll to that name
- OSX Address Books with certain non-English characters in the records no longer cause the client to vaporize when clicking the Address Book button.
- Assorted bug fixes

The main reason behind this release was to fix an intermittent delivery problem: When downloading a delivery, the client would occasionally either hang indefinitely or just vaporize. This was caused by random corruption introduced after the delivery had left the sender's computer. The source of the problem could be anything from a bad cable to outdated firmware in someone's router. The new client has improved error detection so that it can spot this corruption and repair it as the file is being transferred. In order to get the full benefit of this new error correction, both sender and recipient should use the new client.
