Default PT5 & MIDI TimeCode out

I am sure one of you can help me with this question.

I just upgraded to PT 5 and want to generate MIDI time code -> so my DA7s controlled by MAX can sync and be happy. According to the PT5 docs I need a USD or SSD. I had been doing what I want in StudioVision (sending MTC through my midi interface). So do I really need to buy a USD or SSD to have PT send MTC to anything?

Thanks in advance...

Hey Thomas, Putney -aka- russell from DA7.com.

If you already have the DA7's in the OMS setup, just go to the Protools:

Setups/Peripherals window.

Under 'synchronization' choose 'Generic MTC Reader' for 'Device'.

On 'Port' select your midi interface (global) or the specific port you first DA7 is on.

Then, in Protools select Windows/Show session setup:

In the generate timecode box, click MTC to port and select your midi interface or the specific port.

Of course on the DA7, go to the automation window and select the Time Base as MTC.

Protools now generates midi beat clock too for old midi sequencers.

E-mail me if you still want that DA7 controller info. It's been very unreliable, so I'm looking into the JL Cooper 3800, which hi-jacks the HUI profile. rcg123@mvp.net
