Please believe I have searched every way I know how for an answer to this, as I can't believe someone wouldn't have asked this question before...so please bare with me if it has been asked:
The keyboard shortcuts to call up the AudioSuite versions of several of these plug-ins are the same as other keyboard shortcuts that have existed for ions (Apple-L: Lock regions; Apple-G: Group Tracks; etc.). Now these are over-ridden by the Dynamics III plug-ins they are attached to now. Can this functionality be changed by the user, and if so, how? Please don't tell me I have to learn a new shortcut for locking regions after 7 years...

C'mon...a simple "here's how" or "you're S.O.L., pal" will suffice. Please don't ignore me.

This happens with lots of plug-ins. Waves for example takes over lots of keyboard commands when the plug-ins are open. Just close the plug-in window and everything should function fine.

thanks, Slim.
Nope...in this case, as soon as I hit Apple-L, Compressorimiter opens. When I close the plug-in window, and I hit Apple-L again after I've selected a region, the plug-in window pops up again. The only way I can lock a region is to go into the menu and choose it. To boot, Compressorimiter now shows up at the top of my AudioSuite menu with the Apple-L shortcut all the time...and I can't get rid of that either.

Hi mate,
At the moment, my workaround, is to reprogram the LOCK and GROUP keys to a function key (ie. APPLE+F1 to Lock, APPLE+F2 to GROUP..etc) This can be done in OSX's system Preferences/Keyboard & Mouse/Keyboard Shortcuts menu. In fact, I've also used this method to programme my own "Bounce to Disc..." shortcut Hope this helps! (for now..) Regards, [Charles] |

I know this thread is a bit old, but just thought I'd post a workaround that I recently found. Maybe this will be of use to other old digi001/6.4LE users like myself!?
NOTE: as with the previous post, I'm working on a Mac, so this only works for Macs... there may be a way on PC, but not sure. As Charles mentioned, go to Preferences -> Keyboard & Mouse -> Keyboard Shortcuts. Create a new keyboard shortcut for ProTools, but instead of using a new shortcut for the GROUP or LOCK, you can 'reassign' the offending audiosuite shortcut to a different keystroke, and keep the original GROUP/LOCK keystroke. For example, the Command-G shortcut was originally used for the "New Group" command. However, with the Dynamics III and EQ III, now that same shortcut is also shared by the "Expanderate Dyn 3" command. So, what I did was 'remap' the "Expanderate Dyn 3" command to a different keyboard shortcut-- Command-F1 (or could be anything else you want). Just be sure to use the exact same name of the command that appears in the menu in ProTools when you're naming it in the Keyboard Shortcuts preferences panel. Apple's "help" info is pretty good for this topic as well, if you're stuck or confused. Hope this helps! studior PTLE 6.4 Mac OS 10.3.2 (I know!!! too lazy/busy to upgrade to 10.3.4 or 10.3.9, but haven't noticed any problems) digi001 Sawtooth G4 350 MHz Motherboard 1.4 GHz PPC G4 upgrade w/2MB L3 cache 1.12 GB SDRAM |
