Will the real hub please stand up?

So, I fell victim to the MBP TB3 marketing which subsequently necessitated a shopping spree for TB3 and USB-C hubs so I can actually do some work. Was looking for a combination of TB3 AND USB-C ports. Already had two USB-C to USB-A 3.0 hubs so was shopping for an additional USB-C port. Had fulfilled one USB-C port need with CalDigit USB-C dock. My setup uses ten USB 3.0 connections.

Take a look at these attached images. Notice any similarity between the different brands? (CalDigit, Kensington and Plugable [sic]). In spite of the exterior physical ports, the internal specs (at least the published specs) are different.
