Default Please Verify / reproduce Bug (Crash)

I like to verify that re-produceable PT crashes on my system aren't "Local" by having a fellow DUC'er verify that it's happening elsewhere, before sending a bug report to Digi.

Can someone please repeat the following procedure, and let me know if your system crashes.

HERES A 3 MIN MOVIE OF THE CRASH BEING REPRODUCED

----- HERE ARE THE STEPS FOR ME TO REPRODUCE THE CRASH ---

- Create new 48k 24bit session
- Set Setup --> Preferences --> Operation --> Recording "Automatically create new playlists when Loop recording" to CHECKED
- Create a new Mono Audio Track and record Arm it
- Set Pro-Tools transport to "Loop record"
- Highlight 1 Bar and press record
- Allow 7 or 8 passes and stop the transport
- Disarm the Track and set to "Playlist View"
- Create new Playlist called "Comp" (or whatever you like)
- Paste some regions (Or promote from the arrow) to the comp
- Right (Or control Click) the top Playlist / ("Main Audio track") and select Delete

*** You will get a "Comp track contains Active regions... do you still wish to delete it"***

- Select "Delete"

*** You will get a warning... "The tracks you are about to delete contain alternate Playlists, would you like to keep these playlists***

- Hit "KEEP" twice
- Create a NEW mono audio track
- Select "Other Playlists"
- Select any of the playlists saved from the deleted track

Does Pro-Tools Crash on you?

Here's the crash report I get.

At one point, re-producing this for the 4th or 5th time, on relaunch, I got a BSOD and my system restarted itself.

just putting this out there to see if anyone else can reproduce it.

I'm pretty sure I've had this as well. I can't recall the exact steps but it was something very similar to this and I did it 3 times in a row so it's definitely re-producible.

I just reproduced this in-house. We'll log it up....I'm looking for a possible workaround.

Thanks, and sorry!

FTR - I've confirmed it in LE as well.. PTLE 8cs1

Tim... I think it's funny how you apologize when we find a legit bug... like you got mad at work one day, at all of us, talkin Sh*t on the DUC, so you programmed a few crashes into Pro-Tools. And when we find em, you have to apologize for your mean spirited game. Damn you, and your hidden bugs Tim.

All kidding aside... with this Bug... I DONT have any problems, selecting the "Other playlists" that were created by Loop recording, from other tracks, if those tracks remain in the session.

the ONLY time this bug occurs, is when the Track is deleted, and the Playlists are "Kept"

Realistically, I can't see anyone deleting a "Complete track" expecting to Keep underlying Playlists - as part of their workflow - I know it still needs to be fixed, but this isn't a "Big One"

Just change that dialog to - "You are about to delete a track with other Playlists - are you sure? "Cancel --- Delete"

if you "Remove the option to Keep the playlists" you've fixed the bug :)

Good luck !
