Dark Theme in Pro Tools 2020.11

I’m just glad they got .MOV files able to import and export again. I quickly switched back to the classic mode though. Like within a few minutes. Needed to get work done.

Brightness doesn't do all that much. You have to max out the saturation control in the PT color picker.


I've been mucking about in the dark mode color file mentioned earlier. What's bugging me is it appears Avid uses a 5 digit color scale scheme I can't find anything on at the moment. Each line in the file has a name and a number sequence of xxxxx, xxxxx, xxxxx, 65536 where the xxxxx can be any number of digits up to and including 5 digits.

Yeah, I tried to give Dark Mode a fair shake but my eyes were getting sore from straining to see everything. I use Dark Mode in every other application where it's available so I did want to make it work for me.

I did the saturation too. Doesn't help much. It is a bit disappointing, as I like the darker mode for most things. It is easier on the eyes for me.

I maxed the saturation in the PT color pallette and dropped the brightness to about 25% and I'm liking it. Much easier on my old (68.75 year old) eyes.
Maybe it's something in the Apple color pallette or what but I like it as it's less eyestrain at least for me. I've always been photo-sensitive with my eyes.

Same here. For me (57 years and glasses) it's much easier to "watch" the UI.

I'm done with dark mode for now. Back to classic until Avid provides some better controls with the contrasts, saturation, and brightness.

I am really liking 2020.11 thus far. Loving dark mode. It's not perfect, but for late night editing it is working a treat. Sessions seem to be loading a heck of a lot faster with it too!

Any help for Win 10 users to get dark colors on all window, title and menu bars?

The PT Mix, Edit, MIDI, Workspace windows among others still have light blue color... despite attempts to use dark theme in Windows Personalize menus...

I *do* have dark colors on most other PT windows including plug-in windows...
