Default 98SE operating system interupts

I'm running PTF on a P3, 933MHz. I keep getting the message "The operating system held off interupts for too long. If this occurs often, try increasing the hardware buffer size...."

This I do to no avail. The message keeps popping up. Please help.

try all the performance hints available anywhere around here. (use the search-button) this message to me seems to come up as soon as you're trying to do something that needs more power than available. but sometimes it even comes up when playing one track without any plugin. only way I found then is reboot.

Hi Brian. I had the same problem but found that it was caused by a program running in the background that I thought I'd disabled.
FYI it was the Realplayer (yuk!) update program. I'd selected the "update only when Realplayer was in use" option within Realplayer but somehow it was still running.

There's two ways round this. Either completely uninstall Realplayer and don't use it, or locate the realplayer automatic update program and delete it.

I found that by experimenting a bit that PTF really does require nothing running unnecessarily in the background. It seems to be a very sensitive animal but the loveliest ones are often aren't they?

A final tip which may help; I created two user and hardware profiles in Windows so that when I want to use PTF I boot up without my net card (the hardware profile) and with different start menu lists so that nothing unwanted runs in the background.

Any more queries just ask.
Cheers Brian, hope this helps.
