New Avid S3 constant failing faders. ASC throws Visualforce error

I Just heard the engineer has successfully removed the code that flags the false errors so definitely going to check it Monday. This does also remove the real errors but S6 doesn't even have this and its pretty obvious when a fader goes bad.
This will be in v3.8 later this year but I can sort anyone who needs a beta in the meantime.

Parallel to this discussion I am also talking to support via my Avid Dealer
(Amptec Belgium, great guys to work with)

On their recommendation I swapped fader 3 & 16 and for now it seems both faders are doing their job and we are not getting any error messages.

I'll post further developments here.

So far no changes. All 16 faders work without any noticeable glitch. My best guess is that we are talking about fader manufacturing tolerances.
I doubt that we are talking about bad contacts. The multipin is rather well made and clicks in properly.

I have 6 S3's, they are used 60-70hrs a week. Unfortunately Avid has used the same faders since the Command 8. If Eucon says its failing, and your mouse cord isn't jamming it, it's the physical fader. They take about 15-20min to replace.

This is not true, we found something in software that was throwing false negatives. This has been fixed in v3.7. Also we use many different faders and different revisions in our surfaces. The manufactures generally make them better over time. Whilst it may be the same manufacturer its not the same fader.

Glad to hear that Avid is working on this...

Several problems with s3 here too....

My (short) history:

Spanish Post facility, 2015 we bought 3 s3. 3 moths later, two of them sent back to Ireland to repair, (both with fader failure message and not recovering after the rest in eucon soft)

the third one sent back a few moths later... All the three broken... (I suppose) as Avid dint really told us was what wrong with them!

After update to eucon 3.6.1, had fails with disconnection of the console. The mixer was aparently working but faders dindnt work and menus didn't work either! It was a freeze of the s3.... thinking on sending it to Ireland again, but I downgraded to 3.6 and suddenly stop this fail....

Want to say that the machine was deleted and reinstalled from gound several times and the failure was still there...

My conclusion is that, if its a software problem, we still have some chance to get this solved...

I hope your team gets into the real problem!

Hi, sorry for your issues. I doubt its a problem with software between 3.6.0 and 3.6.1 as I haven't heard this for other users and would notice it here.
When you say the S3 freezes, what is displayed on the OLED's, also is the S3 still listed in the Connected surfaces tab of EuControl ? Is this happening with all 3 S3's ?

Yes in v3.7 on the 18th Oct
