One License, two versions, two systems?
Hi all,
Sorry for the double post-- I put this in the license section instead... longtime reader, haven't posted in years. I am putting together a new PT ultimate system on the new 2019 Mac Pro, probably moving to the subscription license. The studio currently has an old mid 2010 Mac running PT 2018.10 Ultimate. If I crossgrade and purchase the new license, would I be able to move the Ilok back to the older system and still run it while I load up the new computer, or will buying the 2020 version make the older version die? I want to get started installing on the new computer, but there are still projects to finish, and I'd like to continue using the old system. Old system Mac Pro 10.13.6 PT Ultimate 2018.10 HD New System Mac Pro 2019 Catalina 16 core Thanks all! Quentin Chiappetta mediaNoise.com Last edited by QuentinC; 06-04-2020 at 07:49 AM. Re: One license, two versions, two systems?
Thanks for your quick reply-- I wasnt sure if the new licence would also work for the older version of PT-- seems like it doesnt work for much older versions... (like 10 and 11)

Re: One license, two versions, two systems?
If you have subscription, it only works with the year number releases. If you have perpetual license, it should have everything since PT 10.0.0 and you can see this from your iLok License Manager

Or, leave the old license alone and create a new iLok account for the new subscription(with a 2nd iLok). There is no real limit on number of accounts, as long as you can keep track of logins and stuff(that was a bit of a pain at first, but now its old hat for me).

You can obviously have perpetual and subscription on single ilok account and single avid account, nothing prevents that. Just that if you want to keep the perpetual, do not crossgrade to subscription but instead buy a new subscription.
