Somewhere in this forum DTS said they're working on a new software package. So it's coming. The BIG thing is refreshing the Artist line so that it actually works like Pro Tools. I'm completely tired of the switching in my mind mute/unmute vs. off/on.

Avid tech support:

Any idea when we'll see this update with the needed features? (preview, a surround panned that works right, all touch all latch...) What will be included?

Might I add, we need better display of the track's auto mode on the chanels. The r, rw stuff just doesn't cut it at all!!!!!!

I'm holding back on any artist series purchase and the complete production toolkit 2 update(worthless without key commands to trigger advanced automation commands) until I can control all this stuff with those control surfaces and my own keymap.

Until then, Protools 9 is not worth any investments in money or time and remains a test-update to me, not a production system.

If someone at that company wants to continue to wall off flexiblity behind that kind of a paywall, my money is on other systems. If they relinquish control of keyboard commands and Eucon access to those features, it's worth investing in it. Until then, so long. I don't buy old methods.

what about using the automation button on the Euphonix while holding down OPTION on the mac keyboard?

Doesn't that do it?? All tracks jump to the same AUTO type.

I'd still love a TRIM mode button...

That's very awkward.
Try going through Latch without touching the fader (and writing automation), virtually impossible with my fingers
Cycling through Automodes to get to the one you want just doesn't cut it for efficent mixing

We need more than that
We need at the very least PREVIEW/ PREVIEW PUNCH / AUTOMATCH / AUTO JOIN / CAPTURE / CAPTURE PUNCH + the auto modes

all the stuff we use everyday for mixing.

+1 as well.

Recently upgraded to 9 and 2.5.6 and my mixing speed / efficiency has been drastically stunted.

Avid please reinstate these BASIC console functionalities immediately!

All automation features available with PT 9 HD, 9 + CPTK should be readily available each with its own button on the MC control..

(Mild off topic: does anyone know how to zoom waveforms within the regions on this new version of EuCon, I used to do this on the MC control via its shift key and the zoom vert jog move, now this actually vertically zooms the track, was wondering if this is still possible another way?)

To accomodate new users we took out the automation modes!
And now to recover your workflow you must bring us a shrubbery, a nice one with flowers on the side. aaaargh
Well, I used to use this feature ALL THE TIME.
I will go back to 2.5.5 until they come up with a damn "update" that brings back these features.
I HATE WHEN companies think for their userbase, and REMOVE features.
Just great.

Thumbs down Re: Lost Automation Modes Soft Keys in 2.5.6

Well,

I tried to use EuCon 2.5.5 which has all the cool layout.

IT CRASHES PROTOOLS 9.0.2

Great.

Now I have to reinstall EuCon 2.5.7, and have LESS FUNCTIONALITY.

Now we HAVE to wait until we get the full functionality back.
Awesome.

Very Cool Move on the Part of Avid / Euphonix.

I have been using Pro Tools since 1996, does this make me a newbie, and do I now have to have LESS functions?

Who made THAT genius decision?

I for one am complaining right here for all the world to see.

And will be counting down the time it takes to get the better / full functionality back.

These USED to be in their own dedicated buttons, for the MC Control's 2 rows of 6 buttons under the touchscreen.

Not Any More.

Epic Fail on the part of Avid, IMO.
