Default Structure Trial Version - 3 GB of voices - same as Free?

I just downloaded the free Strucutre LE 14 day trial version and there does not seem to be any more sounds/patches than on the free version. I checked all the plug in directories and the same 60 patches are displayed, no more. The total file size of the 60 files is only 866MG.

Am I missing something? Why would I pay $149 for what is now free?

PT 7.4 LE, PC, Win XP Pro, Digi 002

That was not a helpful reply, for reasons following. The comment about the price was referring to the fact that I got no more patches with the 14 day trial than my current free version. It was a "tongue in cheek" comment.

I had obviously read the comparison chart and product description to know that I should get more sounds/patches in the 14 trial version than the Free version or I would not have posed the question in the first place.

The comparison chart indicates "Free" to have 886MG of sounds -

"Starter sound library from A.I.R. (over 885 MB)" I have this library and indicated it in my question.

I also reviewed the various postings that had the full 3 GIG listing of patches -

"Professional sound library from A.I.R. (3 GB)"

I did not get this library when I did the full trial installation, hence the question.

I sent a note to Digidesign tech support through the appropriate form, but no answer as of yet.

Anyone else have any helpful suggestions?

In the trial mode, you only get the library you have with Free. If you buy LE you get 3 gig worth of voices. With the full program you get 20 gig. See this thread: I asked the same question!

Thank you very much for the direct and helpful answer. I found this nowhere in the documentation nor the comparison chart. When at the trial download page, there should be some indicator - why would anyone go through the ilok, download activity if the free version does the same thing. I was hoping to test out some of the 3GB sounds before buying.

Thanks again for the info and Merry Christmas from Canada!

They're not the same. Read the Feature Comparsion chart.

So, Digidesign did confirm to me that there is no difference in the patch files you get with the 14 day Trial version vs. the Free version. Wished I'd known that before downloading the trial version as I already had the Free version. There is no additional benefit from a patch perspective. My initial query (as well as those of other users) only focussed on the number of patches which is not clearly distinguished on any Structure Trial Version info page. My query was not at all about the functionality.

So, yes, filosofem, they are indeed the same thing, patch wise. Thanks for chiming in, though.

Well, I agree you have no more sounds to try out. BUT, you do get to try out all the other powerful editing features, unlimiting sound stacking, etc etc. That's worth the trial, I think.
Sure, I'd like to sample more sounds, too, but you have to believe it'll all be good. Besides, you can load in there any sample you want!!!

It perplexs me as to why your so hung up with the sample content of a free downloadable Plug-In trial that's basically there to guide you through the Quick Start Chapter as a fair representation for a potential purchase. I would've thought it's functionality would have been more predominant and thus making it distinguishable.

Horses for courses, I guess.

Not hung up, I just didn't see any reference to the sound library content on the trial version download web page or on the reference chart and was curious. I was already familiar with the Trial Version's inherent capability and it was just a simple question that one reader kindly answered simply and directly without directing me to a document which did not answer the question. Save yourself some time in the future.

Lighten up, Lester and Merry Christmas!

So the answer is clear and let's move on!
