Default Midi Notes already recorded drop when midi merge recording

Well that is weird cant remember it happening before...

I have a client recording drums in a keyboard he plays kick and snare and then with recording with midi merge active he records hats and cymbals but what happens is that when a note is played at the same time a midi note from those kicks and snares is playing those snares anb kicks stop sounding, and its difficult to record this way, happen to someone? Any ideas? is this normal?

AS far as i remember it never happened before
have no time right now to mess up with trashing preferences etc
to many things to redo if I do and cant right now...

as a quick fix, use separate midi tracks for each instrument .. and we could use seom more info ..

What VI are you using for drums? Check if it's not set for one note to cancel others, the way open hh cancels hh.

Anyone ever find a resolution for this (aside from the multiple midi tracks for one inst, which yields the same result)? Been happening to me for a while now and it's BEYOND annoying.

Late 2014 iMac
PT HD12.4
MacOS 10.10.1
UA Apollo 8

What drum vi are you using?
Actually multiple MIDI tracks won't do what's being described here if done right. Don't use MIDI merge and record separate parts to each track. Then merge the tracks together by copy/paste. I do it with BFD 3.
