Default Pt 2020.12?

Earlier this month someone posted a thread mentioning a 'what's new' for PT 2020.12. From that doc it seemed like the update wasn't anything spectacular for some people. Has it been shelved or what? Nothing in my Avid account.

Probably last minute showstopper delaying, but there is still plenty of time to release 2020

What’s the rush??

Maybe Avid brings back reinstatement.

Thomann still has some HD reinstatement plans available. Give them a call.

I know, there are some out there still. What I was meaning is Avid to bring back reinstatement and end this threatening about not being able to update your perpetual license if you let it lapse.

Agree with you that this whole reinstatement discontinueing is BAD BAD BAD! Why can’t we Choose for ourselves if we wanna go sub or skip a year and get back in Perpetual without the added stress of being forced into subscription if we dont renew in time every year????

I feel awkward toward this as a moderater but I also need to have my own opinion so I will say this and *hope* Avid listen to all of us and reconsider .... Miracles do happen ...

I couldn't agree more my friend. There have been so many people that have been caught out by Avid discontinuing reinstatements. Remember that the little girl in Miracle On 34th Street got the house she asked Kris Kringle for.

I just turned off the Auto Renew for my Ultimate subscription for July 2021. I have 6 more months to go and we'll see how things have progressed with Pro Tools updates and my time spent working with Nuendo 11.

I'm kicking myself for giving up my perpetual vanilla license in favor of an Ultimate subscription. At the time I needed the extra functionality of Ultimate, but that need is done, and $80 a month is a bit steep at the moment. As others have expressed, if Avid adopted the Adobe model that allows us to jump on and off as needed without penalty, or at the very least, allow us to jump from Ultimate to Vanilla as needed.

I'd like to keep the $29 per month version of Pro Tools around, but not the $80. I'm also neck deep in the Softube Console 1/Fader ecosystem, which Avid doesn't support full integration of, so there that...

Oh, and I went to make a support case and saw 2020.12 listed in the dropdown menu, so it's coming... maybe....

Yep, but you can start and stop without penalty. I do it all the time as a freelancer - get a gig, start it up. Finish the gig, stop it. Basically, they have 2 tiers - yearly subscription or month-to-month for slightly more.
