Default 10.5.3 crush

I updated with Combo. I open a session that was working quite well on 10.5.2. I changed the nr of cores, from 2 to 8. I opened a guitar track with Amplitube 2. Tried to put more effects on the track...and the hole system crushes, 003 goes offline and the message on the screen is:
Quote:
Lost communication with the audio interface. Please try increasing H/W Buffer Size" or removing some plugins, and make sure you have a valid clock source.Press OK to reset device. (-6097)
Thinking it may be the Amplitube, I left that and tried other plugins that belongs to Digi. While the track was playing, I tried to go into the inserts menu, and before I even chossed one, the system crushes again and the message is:
Quote:
The operating system held off.......(-6093)
I put that at max, 1024 samples. Crush again. I went up and down with the DAE buffer. It didn´t help.

Last time I tried, the system crushed just at the start, before I even touched the mouse.

I don´t have any other usb or firewire devices, just 003 and iLok. The recording goes on the second drive, wich is showed in the workspace as R R Volume. The bluetooth, air and finder are disabled, and all the other things from the troubleshooting page are done by the book (I hope).

Suggestions, anyone? The same problems, anyone?

Thanks for the ideea.

I decided to go for a hole new sesions. I recorded 2 guitar tracks and load 5 plugins on both tracks. Playback perfect with 2 cores, crushed on trying to load up 5 more plugins on a third track. So it worked well with 10 Amplitubes with full pedals and racks. They eat CPU . A lot. But maybe my Mac should rezist? I'm new on Mac, so I don't know.

Loaded the same session from above with 8 cores, it crushes with (-6097) message right away.

It sounds like Apple made some changes in Core Audio in the update that doesn't agree with the current version of ProTools. You may have to wait for the pre-release 7.4.2. That would probably eliminate your issues.

This is one of the many reasons why it's such a fearful day when any new OS updates come out The slightest change in something like Itunes or quicktime can kill our livelihood.

Sucks.

I hope that you're right. Because, like I said, I think I did everything by the book and it's not working proper. It's actually worse, isn't that ironic?

And howcome after all thw yelling about Apple's release people are not posting how their system works?
