Default Huge Delay to 5.0.1 splash screen

Since upgrading from 5.0 to 5.0.1, it now takes 1-2 minutes from double-clicking on the PT app until the splash screen appears.

In PT5 it used to be nearly instant. When I disconnect all hard drives from my ATTO card, it speeds up to 5 seconds before the splash screen appears.

Is this a known bug?

I have a 400MHz/Yikes-G4 with 2-channel ATTO card (2 drives on ch1, 1 drive on ch2) and a 7-slot explansion chassis.

One more thing:

OS 8.6. I am using PT 5.0.1, but NOT the new Digidesign Control Panel (wont work with 8.6). Instead I'm using the Digidesign Output Drivers INIT form 5.0.

I have 512K memory cache and memory minimums for DAE, PT set via '0'.

Remember, pulling off the drives from the ATTO card speeds it up a lot, but not to the instant access we used to have with 5.0.

Help!

Same here. In a previous thread on this subject Digidesign stated that they were looking into it. What have you found out?

Yes, this is a known issue that is tied to our change over in copy protection. It is a variable delay that can be from 20 seconds to a minute or so. A two minute delay would be at the outside of the envelope from what we have seen. It will be fixed in the next release of ProTools.

Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience.
