PT6 and Disk Allocation
I posted this in another thread but I'm afraid it got ignored...
I just received my PT6 today for my Mbox. I'm running 10.2.3 on a PowerBook G4/500 with 512 MB RAM. I'm trying to record to my external firewire drive, on which my session lives, but I can't get Disk Allocation to allow me to select that drive as a target. I get the message "<drive> is not an audio playback volume." How do I make it "an audio playback volume?" On a related note, files that live on the drive appear in italics in the Region List and don't play. Thanks -Marc |

Re: PT6 and Disk Allocation
....just bumping this message up so hopefully we can get someone who knows how to fix this problem.
and by the way in the Workspace window it won't allow me to record enable or playback enable either of my firewire drives. it says that "this is not a vilid audio volume..." or something of like that... |

Re: PT6 and Disk Allocation
1. Go to the "workspace browser" by choosing "Show Workspace" from the Windows menu.
2. Next to whichever drive you want to use, there is a column for Audio (A) and Video (V). Under the 'A' column, choose "Record". Marking a drive for "Record" allows you to both Playback and Record on that drive. -Ted |

Re: PT6 and Disk Allocation
Thanks, Ted. That fixed the problem.
Can you tell me where this information can be found? I still can't find any reference to this setting and it appears to default to something no one would want. -Marc |

( "HARD DRIVE NAME" cannot be designated as an Audio Record volume because it is not a valid audio volume.) Could it be a formatting problem? Both of my firewire drives are MAC OS Standard formatted. |

Re: PT6 and Disk Allocation
Hello,
Firewire drives should be formatted Mac OS Extended. I would backup your drives and reformat them as Mac OS Extended (HFS+) using the Mac OS. Mike |

Re: PT6 and Disk Allocation

I tried reformatting both drives to HFS+.. and I still get the same error message when I try and designate one for "Playback" "Record" or "Transfer".... ...anymore suggestions? I'm totally stumped.... |
