Default Upcoming releases

Hello All,

Just another thread about renewal. My paid sub. is up soon. I know that there was a recent post of the same nature and the responses, although vague, were very much in favor for going in for another year. My question is why. Is there some known feature that is due to break any time now? What specifically is going to be the next big thing? I was leaning towards just keeping what I have and not doing the yearly sub anymore. Paging Dr werD.

My math on that is that for $100 you preserve updates, and you can't decide not to renew and later jump back on. As soon as you go off of that grid by letting your subscription lapse, you will have to pay full price to get any updated PT version.

(Someone correct me if I am wrong)

Avid.... Go Waves style please.
(Including fundamental true-bug fixes)
Most like to keep a stable system and when the system needs update/grade then all software within.

More than reasonable I would say.

well, at least if you opt out now, you're left with a useable version.

For two years that was not an option for me, which sucked bad.
Now that PT is useable on my system again, I don't mind giving them a few hundred bucks every year.

Stable for you on 2018.7 or 2018.10? Or both?

For me, both. Even on Mojave (barring some quirks due to not being supported)

Stable for me, but I'll probably renew. Choosing a holiday weekend (turkey day) helps me remember and avoid lapse.

I remember some posts saying that a stable release is bad business for Avid. At the time, I thought it was a ridiculous thing to say. I haven't had much in the way of issues anyway, but now we are seeing folks say that they're good and don't want to mess up what's working.

All valid points, but I am wondering if there are hints or even intuition based guesses of upcoming features that would make the uncertain user renew. Of course $99 is not a lot, and I don't want to see Avid stop evolving as a company. My only guess would be improvements to MIDI, which doesn't affect my situation.

I have an HD Native and a Standard copy, so for me, it's $500. It's a lot to think about, especially since I also use Logic which has not charged for updates in several years! I suspect that I will because it is very expensive to get back in once you let it lapse.
