This cannot be the card that originally came with the mac then. Why not dig that out and try it first?

That I need a New NVIDA card with dual adaptors (old Apple studio display monitors) and that a

pro max 64meg nvida in main slot will do it.
Avoid NVidia, especially with MIX. NVidia and MIX cards don't MIX. You will be susceptible to a rare, and harmless, yet disturbing bug where once a month (or so), your computer will turn on with a black screen. You can avoid this harmless scare entirely by getting an ATI Radeon 9000 Pro Mac Edition card.

The ATI card comes with a DVI-->VGA adapter, and an ADC-->VGA adapter is not too expensive. If you buy the ADC-->VGA adapter, yes, the card will work with your displays.

Dont mean to be a moron.. but as I have the two old style monitors running off the Mirror door G4 already - do you suppose I have those converters already... ??

Are they little plastic things about 2 fingers wide that connnect one cable type to another? (I am not at the studio this moment)

Not sure what your budget is, but I recently made the move from MixPlus to HD3 Accel, with Expansion Chassis, and decided to finally drop SCSI & dive headlong into Fibrechannel, after reading about & speaking with Film Post guys who were raving about SNS Fibredrive 2 (http://www.studionetworksolutions.co...ts/fibredrive/)

As i wanted to start working at 96kHz on a regular basis, & as i wasn't keen on spreading files across multiple drives (SCSI, SATA, or Firewire), i tested the Fibredrive with 128 tracks of 96kHz audio (record & playback), and its been astonishing - no DAE errors to speak of, & all off a drive case the size of your average Firewire drive.

To be fair, i haven't done tons of edits across that many tracks, but it really feels like a rock solid storage solution for the higher sample rates.

I've ended up putting my SCSI card into a spare G4, and using it just to transfer "live 24 track" recordings onto the network from removable Glyph drives.

Best of luck with the move - PT 6.9 is really worth it.

You may. You would need the model of your current graphics card to make that determination.

MDD model G4s came w/ video cards that had ADC and DVI ports, including a DVI to VGA adapter. If you are already running dual VGA monitors, then you probably already have the extra ADC to VGA adapter. You may not need anything extra.
