Running LE 6.1 on Windows XP.... stability problem
I was hired by a local studio to stabilize their system of an 002 rack being run on a Windows XP PRO machine. I am not familier with XP Pro just yet and am wondering what specific system settings need to be changed to have PT run to its fullest capacity and stability.
The problem he is having is that the system worked fine for a few weeks, then started giving errors like, "disc not fast enough or fragmented", and a slew of other ugly notes. I am wondering what problems you all have run into using XP PRO and how you addressed them. As it stands now I will be erasing PT completely from the computer and reinstalling it. After that its basically going to come down to reinstalling XP on the machine entirely and starting from scratch. Thanks for your advice in advance.

He may simply be taxing his system.. reinstalling the OS or Pro Tools may not do anything except get you paid.
What are the specifics of his system.. a Sandra report would tell you the most. Rail

Re: Running LE 6.1 on Windows XP.... stability problem
Sorry for bringing up the obvious, but..
1. The PC has two separate drives, right, one for the OS and a separate one for audio? 2. You've defragmented both the audio and system drives? 3. The Windows XP performance tweaks have been applied? You mentioned that the system worked fine for a few weeks, then started giving errors. What changed? db |

You should also try to check out this site:
