CHECK YOUR i/O THIS IS YOUR PROBLEM OR If you do have your i/o set correct let me guess, you can press play in your V,I and it plays But it doesnt play along to PT when you press play in PT not the V,I or even not at all You need to create a midi track to sync with your V,I If you dont have a midi track with lanes that you draw on it will not sync or communicate with PT. ITS NOT AUTOMATIC until you make a midi track and assign it to such. You have a audio or instrument track now you need a midi track to tell it what to do make sure you midi tracks input is set to your V,I if you only have one pattern draw a line on midi track 3 . press play . If that doesn't sync your midi V,I to play start stop try a different lane in the midi channel. THERE IS A GREAT TUTORIAL ON THE BASICS OF THIS It is a BOOM tutorial but demonstrates how to sync PT with V,Is check it out its a two part tutorial that will explain what your issue is. www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZ-XqyXA29I Watch the whole thing please, it will go over stuff you may already know, but it will go over stuff you don't . And thats the problem |

And some of your info is wrong. If you have a vi on an instrument track you don't need a separate MIDI track. Instrument tracks are a combo of Aux Input tracks and MIDI tracks. And you don't 'sync' tracks with one another to play or record. You route let's say a MIDI track to either an Aux or Audio track which hosts the vi. There's lots more a user needs to do and know than what you mention before they can get any sound out of PT. And it seems that the OP doesn't want to do that - he wants people to figure it out for him without him doing any work on his own. |

Monitoring can be from headphones, from monitor speakers, from the outputs on your interface, from the outputs of your computer. From the sound of it, you do not have an interface, nor know anything about a mixer or routing audio/ midi, or know anything about a computer system. I would recommend you stop and read the MANUAL that came with Pro tools, and buy a manual on what a computer is, what OS is, and drivers etc. Your percentage for success is pretty much zero. Pro Tools is not starter audio software, and newbies on a windows based system is a train wreck waiting to happen. I know, my mom is still trying to figure her computer out. I cant answer your question of why Pro Tools wont play because you cant answer what you are doing and with what. What the monitor shows to you is meaningless. Your one hope is to know someone who knows computers and pro tools and have them come over and get you started. Chris
