Default cables and connectors make the difference

I just rented a bunch of cables this weekend for a 001 session. Found that the TRS 1/4" connectors from Neutrik with the rounded ball at the tip do NOT work in the 1/4" inputs for the 001. Use the Switchcraft with the pointed tip on the TRS connector.

Took me a day to figure this one out, genius that I am.

Sounds odd, I know. But the Neutrik 1/4" TRS with the ball at the top of the 1/4" doesn't fit into the 1/4" jacks in the rear of the 001 properly. We just switched to a the same cable with a Switchcraft pointed TRS tip plug, and it worked fine.

Sounds like your Neutrik connectors are the older type. All my new Neutrik connectors have the pointed tip and work fine with my 001.
I have some old 'phone patchbay' 1/4" connectors (not sure what brand) with round tips that get stuck half way into the 001's sockets. They fit everything else though.

I don't know what the Monster Pro 500 or 1000 is. I do know that recently I was doing guitar ODs in a control room with some rf. We bought a 12 ft. basic Monster guitar cable, and the rf basically disappeared (for the most part).

And you can't beat Monster for speaker cable. It does make a difference.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Yeah, monster cables are amazing. I remember my friend showing me an "A/B" on his keyboard with a synth monster cable. It was amazing how much of a differance cables can make to your tone.

Using studiolink with 1/4" and XLR's here and not a single problem or failure. All of them are 2001 or newer.
