Sweetwater's site lists next week as when they arrive.

You do know that you can do a pre-order, right?

How significant an upgrade is HDX from HD3 (assuming a one-card HDX system)? Digi's own numbers on this show 18 x 350 MHz for an HDX card, 3 x 9 x 200 MHz for an HD3 Accel. Given that the HDX card is working on 32-bit files, it would seem the HD3 Accel has the edge, by about 14%. I'm sure there are other considerations (as Avid claims "3x-7x the power per card"), but on the face of it, it looks like you would get a small downgrade in performance.

Does anyone else know whether I'm off-base here?

Avid quotes the HDX cards as being from 5 to 7 times the performance of an HD1 card. If you take the raw figures you cite (18 x 350 MHz = 6300) and (3 x 9 x 200 MHz = 5400) and divide the 6300 by 5400 you get 1.1666 which would simplistically mean the HDX card outperforms the HD3 setup by 16.67 percent. You appear to have gotten your math sdrawkcab.

HDX cards are not the problem but PT 10.1 that supports HDX cards won't be available before mid-January.

Even PT10 with CPTK is multiple times more powerful than HD1 and even more powerful than HD2 or HD3:

No where does he talk about the CPTK. It's a test comparing HD Native and PT10 and an HD3 rig (no mention of what version of PT used on the HD3 rig). HD Native seemed to come out the winner.

The only difference between PT10+CPTK and HDnative is that the card provides the I/O to an AVID-Interface. Both systems rely on native processing 100%. So apart from the interface they do compare, which is why I mentioned it. I know that the article doesn´t mention PT10+CPTK but I doubt that you will see a huge difference when you open that test-session on PT10+CPTK. But would be worth a try.
For me the most interesting question is not how much more powerful is HDX than HD1 since even PT10+CPTK already out-powers an HD3 or is at least equivalent (apart from the latency).
