Syncing Protools 7.4 and Logic 8 via MMC IAC bus

I can't seem to get Protools 7.4 and Logic 8 to sync via MMC. Logic slaves just fine to protools but I can't get protools to be controlled by logic. Any help would be apreciated.

I've never gotten good results with ProTools chasing SMPTE (MTC) from Logic. Set it up so Logic follows the clock from PT, and PT receives MMC commands from Logic. I also use a hardware cable (out one port, into another) for the clock. This is for running both on the same machine.

Also, this isn't scientifically totally tested, but I've had better luck with Midipipe (free) in general than with the built-in Apple IAC.

Sorry if I misread your post (I was in a hurry). Try what I said in my post (SMPTE one way, MMC the other). That's what has always worked for me.

The last time I checked, ProTools would not respond to MMC messages coming in via the IAC bus.

It does work if you make external cable connections on a MIDI interface- clumsy, but do-able.

Incidentally, don't expect the accuracy of your sync to be better than +/- a few hundred samples (maybe this has improved- haven't tried this since Structure came out )
