Default Is leaving the hardware on all the time safe?

I just have an Mbox, so its only getting a few volts out of the USB, but I leave it on all the time because I leave my computer on all the time. Do you suppose it is safe to do this? I mean, is it likely that it will shorten its life span by leaving it on all the time?

My understanding is that the shock (literally) of turning a piece of hardware on and off (or maybe just on) is what stresses the components. I know people that leave their computers on 24/7 with no obvious problems.

I figured as much -- I always leave all my computers on all the time.

Yeah I leave all my equipment on all the time (except powered speakers and monitor because of superior wattage), including my laptop.

How many of you have notebooks for your DAW and leave them on? Isn't there a problem?

What about the fans? Constant use would seem to stress or wear them out? This always worries me because I leave my stuff on 24/7.
