with 2 adat-cables and spdif. That way you get 10 channels up and down. Make one the masterclock, and let the other slave to the incoming signal to prevent pops and clicks.

do i need to get extra bits then other than the 002R to make this work or just the 2 adat-cables and spdif? will this allow the flying faders to work?

eh....

You asked to be able to use the ddx3216 as a mixer. That way you CAN use it as a mixer for ptle. What i think you want is to use it as a control-surface, wich is a different story. Get the manual, and get the midi-controllerguide from Digidesign, and make it perform as a JLCooper CS-10 or some other controller Protools can work with.

sorry if i seem a little confused about all this.

if i hook into the mixer using just the spdif will i just get 2 channels on the mixer? also im presuming that to hook into the adat on the mixer i would have to i would have to buy the adat card for the mixer, am i right? and does the spdif or the adat control the wordclock

i wanto use it for pro tools but i also want to be able to use it as a live desk, are there any other alternatives?

thanks guys
john

I looked at that mixer, I was going to use it as a control surface and mic preamps via lightpipe. You will have to connect midi if you want to use it as a control surface. It seem to do everything the JL Cooper will do, faders and encoders, but I am not sure about plug in automation. I could not find any support for using it with ptle.

In short if you use it for the preamps use lightpipe in and out and spdif. For control surface use midi in and out. Hope thais helps. I have heard midi is better in pt6.7.
