Default Protools hdx

My mac pro has been acking up ,not shutting down ,are most people using a magma chassis these days?,best solution?

Have you tried a new drive with fresh installs?
Does "Safe Boot" log-in allow normal shutdown?
5,1 Macs should still be hanging in there.

I do agree with Sonnet recommendation.

We've got Magma here and it works without a hiccup. HDX2 inside, connected via thunderbolt. Switch on-off is automatic.
One idea though do you completely remove the power from it at the end of the day? Because after it receives grid power, it might need a few second to really wake up. I know your problem is at the shut down, but who knows...

Removed a avid core audio plug in from my system drive /library/audio/hal,fixed the problem,i am running 11.3.1 hd on the latest version of el capitanI would like to go back to yosemite,but that is pain in the ass.

Sonnet with HDX1 here - also solid - no issues

Sonnet + HDX is a noisy combination though. I had to build a DIY ISO-Box for mine.

I don't have any Magma knowledge to offer, but I would first try removing the Avid core audio plug as johnnyz says. Did the trick on my PTHD 12.5.2 running Yosemite, 10.10.5.
