Default MacPro Shuts Down

The other i was working on a tune and my macpro just shut down and restarted itself,in fact it did it twice.I running the lastest version of protools 10.3.1 HDX1 connected to a HDio 16x16,i ran rember to make sure my ram was ok and the ram passed the test.Should i do a clean reinstall of osx and protools hd of coarse then i would have reinstall all 3rdparty plug-ins and drivers Not sure how to proceed ,i did install the lastest version of protools 10.3.2 and osx 10.7.5 lion and did a repair permisions on my system drive,I will run it again tonite and see if it happens again. jz

10.8.2 doesn't allow me to boot into safe mode, after the progress bar finished,it turns into dark screen and auto restart.

After using HDX for awhile,my mac keeps auto shutting down, what causes it?

I just upgraded my Ram to 32Gb

Anybody having this issue too?

I've got some bad ram too after checking through "Ram-Test"

Sounds like you got it fixed, but just as an FYI, I had the same issue with a MacPro. I had thought it was bad RAM, but turned out to be a failing graphics card. Just something else to consider if this ever happens to anyone else.

My Mac Pro is doing the same thing just shuts down out of the blue while using pro tools 10 in OSX 10.8.5. Sometimes I can work for hours and it doesn't happen. It actually does it with two different Mac pros as I recently upgraded and moved the ram and video cards from one to the other so it's looking like it would be one of the two, though I am also using the same system drive as well. What's odd is it only seems to happen with Pro Tools.
I'm running ram test now, it could be the ati 2600xt as I have heard there have been issues with it. I am waiting for my new R9 280x to show up after I had it flashed by macvidcards. I will remove the 2600xt after my ram test if the ram passes and see if that gets rid of the issue. I also have. 5870 video card installed as well because I run 3 monitors. If it still happens when I remove the 2600xt then maybe it's the 5870. It does not happen that often but it really sucks when it does.
