Default What's so great about PT10 compared to PT9? I see guys here already not liking PT 10.

What's so great about PT 10? Over PT 9?

Of course they have to get greedy and charge $300.00 in today’s economy to us PT long term loyal users, which by the way I'm not gonna spend $299.00 on PT 10 that doesnt look like it's that big of an improvement for guys like me.

And it's not 64bit.

And whats this AAX all about?

I sure hope Avid doesn’t make a PT down the road that will not let us use all of our 3rd party plugins we paid for. This will be the end of PT for me if so! And Ive been a loyal PT user since the beginning.

Just being honest.

I agree, the code base for 9 is still buggy, AVID got greedy and wanted more money. I wish digi design was still around. Their product is now taken down by Avid's pathetic management which seems to have lost.
I just paid for 9, and it is still buggy, now I am not paying for 10 , for that matter my PT Loyalty is dying.

The only people who "already don't like PT10" haven't used it yet.

Nuff said.

Avid must have been taking Pro Tools down since 1995, then.

You might want to read the feature list of 10. There are some good things there. If you can use them then it will probably be worth the money to you. If you don't then theres no need to upgrade.

I want to, but I won´t get PT 10 too soon. I´ll wait and check stability issues reported in this forum.

I imagine this is a major update, that we pay for what we get (in this case $299). We get the new plugin format, which I think is a pre-requisite for a 64-bit move, the cool channel strip plugin (they would charge us more than $100 just for this plugin), the clip gain feature (to match what other DAWs already have), and the new file management engine (maybe the most value is here).

I remember that the crossgrade from PT8 to PT9 was a little cheaper ($249), but we only got the delay compensation feature, and the iLok replacing the need for a avid interface (which was huge).

If I didn´t upgrade to 9, I would have to pay $499 for the PT 10 Crossgrade. I would pay only $49 less. So I think that $299 is a fair price.

The upgrade from 8 to 9 was 249 for LE and 349 for m powered. So it wasn't much cheaper.

AVID Pro Tools 10 I paid for the upgrade and 6 hours latter I was totally uninstalling it and I went back to Pro Tools 9.0.3... Pro Tools 10 just had one major problem but I didnt pay to upgrade to have a major problem, when they can fix the Xpand2.big not loading into Xpand2 and they get a Tech Support person to call me then and only then will I try and reload this AVID Pro Tools 10... IM not going to spend my whole day trying to fix AVID Pro Tools again.

I highly doubt it would take a whole day to link Xpand2 to the .big file. Did you even try my suggestion on your thread before you gave up completely?

I like the interleaved and the 32 bit float point options.
It also seems a bit more responsive, resource friendly and faster to render audio.
