I LOVE PRO TOOLS!
But I hate Digidesign. Is that a bad thing?
I waited 10 years for a mobile Pro Tools solution. I wrote Digidesign dozens of letters, asking for it- I've been on their asses. Now they release this Pro Tools Mini thing? What the hell is that about? MOBILITY SHOULD INCLUDED IN EVERY VERSION OF PRO TOOLS, FREE FOR EVERY CUSTOMER! I've bought 4 consoles and supported Digidesign since the 90's (Deck). I will not pay for a keychain that unlocks a "feature"... It should be free for every Pro Tools customer! Are you out of your mind? Send me one! It was my idea.

Re: I LOVE PRO TOOLS!
I disagree.....sort of. I think they should sell the Micro without software(as we all have it already) and lowered the price to $99.

Re: I LOVE PRO TOOLS!
I too wrote numerous requests for a truly mobile ProTools solution. The Mbox micro is almost exactly what I asked for.
I actually like that it's still hardware based. I wanted a unit that had a DA converter in it so that I wouldn't have to rely on various computers' sound cards. By using the Micro, I get the same sound output no matter what computer I use - it's always the Digidesign converter in the Micro! IMO, your hope of getting a hardware-free version of ProTools is just not going to happen. Piracy is too rampant and Digi has too much to lose in doing so. Maybe I'm wrong, but I see Digidesign going to the grave with a hardware requirement. I do agree with the opinion that Logic with eventually displace ProTools. It's because of the hardware requirement. Kids in their teens and early 20s are going to use Logic because it's both "Pirate-able" and doesn't require hardware. They will grow up to become the next generation of hit producers with a Logic background. It's sad but predictable. Is it a "catch-22" for Digidesign? Probably so. I'll hang in for the near term. I just bought a new laptop. It's NOT a Mac. I'm committed for a couple years.
